Actor Spotlight: Aaron Dalla Villa

Aaron Dalla Villa is a name you’re going to want to remember. His ability to morph into the characters given to him is amazing. I first spotted him while watching the trailer for Pledge. I knew then that I was going to love that movie, but I had no idea that Aaron would pop up in other movies that I picked at random. After that, the more I learned about him, the more I liked and the more I thought you all would like him too.

His Tricks

While Aaron has multiple films that are about to come out, the one that’s perfect for us is Trick. It’s a film about a detective trying to track down a serial killer. Unfortunately, Aaron wasn’t able to comment on the film itself but he did have this to say, “All I can say is that it was a joy to work on that production with director Patrick Lussier, writer Todd Farmer, and everyone else involved. And a big Thank You to Judy Bowman for casting me in the project. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

His favorite Pledge

In the movie Pledge, Aaron played Max, a twisted college student determined to get what he wanted no matter what. As someone who loves being active, it was easy for him to fall in love with the fight scene at the end of Pledge. He stated, “…I love when I can get physical in a scene. It was a blast.” I can’t blame him for loving that scene, it was one of my favorites as well. It was incredibly intense and everyone involved killed it.

Becoming a Villain

Aaron Dalla Villa seems to be an incredibly nice guy, but he plays the villain so well, I wanted to know how. He explained that it all starts by putting in the time. He goes over the script for hours, learning all there is to know about the character he is going to embody. Not only that but he also utilizes hair, wardrobe, and makeup to help him get the feel for the characters. Method acting is something he has tried as well, even though it wasn’t his intention to use that for the character Max in Pledge. “Daniel Robbins is a fantastic director because he instinctually knows the gifts of his performers. He encouraged me to improvise, and that is one of my stronger skills.” Aaron also pointed out that it’s important for him to embrace his intuitions, because if he doesn’t it could break the character.

His Advice

Aaron gave some advice for those aspiring to become actors or actresses. However, it is advice that we could all use, as they are just great words to live by, thanks Aaron!

“Learn your craft. Take classes. Read plays. Read books. Watch movies. Experience life. Fall in love. Get your heart broken. Just live life. You will have more to pull from. Build a good, supportive team around you early. Finally, if the phone is not ringing, create your own work.”

Aaron Dalla Villa’s Dream Role:

“The Joker—But I can play nice guys too!” Honestly, I would love to see Aaron’s take on the classic comic book character!

Aaron’s Favorite Horror Movie:

Here is where Aaron broke my heart! He doesn’t have a favorite horror movie 💔

However, he did list a few horror movies that he enjoys: The Ring, Get Out, and Sinister.
